Residential Burglary
Officers responded to an activated burglar alarm at a Dogwood Lane residence just after 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4. Upon their arrival they checked the exterior of the home and observed that the sliding glass door in the rear of the home had been smashed. Arriving officers set up a perimeter around the area as Sgt. Paul Schulze and Officer James Schicke checked the interior of the home with negative results.
A K-9 Unit from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department was able to track the scent of an individual through the back yard to Woodcrest Road where the scent was lost, most likely due to the burglar entering a vehicle. Officers inside of the home found that the master bedroom and closet had been ransacked. The owner of the residence stated that some jewelry and approx. $5,000.00 in cash was missing from the bedroom. The incident is currently under investigation by members of this agency.
Anyone with information regarding the incident should call the Parsippany Police Department at (973) 263-4300.
