BUTLERย โ€”ย On March 31, at approximatelyย 7:30 p.m., the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office was informed by the Butler Police Department of an officer-involved shooting occurring in their town and involving a member of their department. ย 

At this time, the Prosecutor’s Office can confirm that an incident occurred leading to a Butler police officer discharging his weapon.ย 

The investigation into this matter is ongoing, and there is no current threat to the community. ย 

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate this matter, with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office – Criminal Investigation Section, and in consultation with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. ย 

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
