PARSIPPANY — Teva Pharmaceuticals, an Israeli drug company specializing in generics, laid off 46 employees at its 400 Interpace Parkway office in January, according to the WARN notice.
The layoffs came as part of a “comprehensive restructuring plan” aimed at cuttings costs and improving overall organization and performance, the company said in a statement.
The plan will result in thousands of layoffs worldwide.
“As part of this restructuring plan, we will also close or divest a significant number of R&D facilities, headquarters and office locations across all geographies,” the statement said. “These steps, which exclude the impact of any future divestments, are expected to result in the reduction of approximately 14,000 positions globally – over 25% of Teva’s total workforce – over the next two years.”
The company would not say how many people it continued to employ in Parsippany. It has offices in Fairfield and Hackensack.
