PARSIPPANYย โย Mayor Michael Soriano promoted Detective George Tsimpedes to the rank of Sergeant, on Thursday, May 9.
Sergeant Tsimpedes graduated from the Passaic County Police Academy in 2006 and began his career with the Passaic County Sheriffโs Office. He transferred to the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department in January, 2008.
He started his career in Parsippany assigned to the Patrol Division and was later transferred to the Investigative Division. While assigned to the Investigative Division, he began working with the Morris County Prosecutorโs Office Narcotics Unit as a Task Force Officer.
Tsimpedes received numerous awards throughout his career to include the Combat Cross, Meritorious Service Award, Unit Citations, Command Citations, Lifesaver Awards, NJ PBA Valor Award, 200 Club Valor Award and the 2016 Narcotics Detective of the Year Award. He has also received numerous commendations from the New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
He received his Masterโs Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his Bachelorโs Degree in Criminal Justice from St. Johnโs University. He is also a certified Alcotest Operator and has advanced training in narcotics investigations. He will return from his assignment as a Task Force Officer and be assigned to the Patrol Division.
When asked what he likes most about serving the Parsippany Community, he stated he appreciates the diversity of the residents he serves and their overwhelming support for Parsippany Police Officers.
