PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS — While responding to an unrelated call, Patrol Officer Denis DeMuro observed a motor vehicle crash near 1470 Route 46 West at 8:37 p.m. on Monday, August 7.
He immediately responded to the scene and spoke with the involved parties. After a brief investigation it was determined that a 2001 Infiniti I30, driven by Edward Bergman, 50, Parsippany, crashed into the rear of a 2007 Subaru Forester.
An ambulance was requested due to Mr. Bergman reporting a head injury from the crash. Upon arrival of Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad, his reported injuries were evaluated.
Officers further advised him that he was under arrest for driving while intoxicated and was then transported to Saint Clares Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Subaru did not report any injuries at the time of the crash.
Mr. Bergman was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, and Following Too Closely.
He was released on his own recognizance pending his court date.
