PARSIPPANY — A multi-agency search is underway for Cavan Londergan, 49, a longtime Parsippany educator and Parsippany High School Hall of Fame inductee, who was reported missing after being last seen in Madison on Monday, August 3.
The Madison Police Department issued a missing person bulletin asking for the public’s assistance in locating Londergan. He is described as a white male, 5’10” tall, with a slim build, gray hair, and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and khaki pants.
A significant law enforcement presence assembled Tuesday evening as the search intensified. Officers from the Madison Police Department, Parsippany Police Department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and other regional agencies were observed staging near the Madison High School campus, though officials have not confirmed whether the search effort is centered there.
Londergan is a familiar face in Parsippany’s schools and youth sports community. A 1995 graduate of Parsippany High School, where he wrestled and played football before continuing his football career at William Paterson University, he began teaching at Troy Hills Elementary School in 2001 and moved to Lake Parsippany Elementary School in 2011, where he serves as a school counselor. He was named the Parsippany Rotary’s Educator of the Year in 2009 and was inducted into the PHS Hall of Fame in 2015.
Beyond the classroom, Londergan has coached Little League Baseball and PAL Football and served as the township’s Flag Football Program Coordinator. He founded the Bizzie Bowl, a flag football tournament that raised more than $25,000 for autism awareness and families in need, and co-founded Games With Friends, a sports program for children with special needs.
As of Tuesday night, authorities had not released additional details about the circumstances of his disappearance.
