PHHS Football Parents Association held a car wash fundraiser
PARSIPPANY — Parsippany Hills Football Parents Association held a Car Wash Fundraiser on Saturday, July 18. They were raising funds for the teams activities during the 2015 season.
Two car collision at Parsippany Road and Littleton Road
PARSIPPANY — Mr. Anthony Costa, 22, Mount Arlington, was traveling eastbound on Littleton Road through the intersection of Parsippany Road, when Ms. Aparna Balakrishnan, 26, Parsippany, traveling westbound on Littleton Road, turned left onto Parsippany Road and collided with Mr. Costa, on Saturday, July 11 at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Ms. Balakrishnan stated she was behind a third vehicle waiting to make the left turn and she did not see Mr. Costa’s vehicle enter the intersection.
Both vehicles had a solid green light. Police investigation found damage to the vehicles to be consistent with the driver and witness statements and that the collision occurred due to Ms. Balakrishnan inattention and failure to yield to the right of way of Mr. Costa.
Mr. Costa was driving a 2009 Dodge Avenger and Mr. Balakrishnan was driving a 2004 Hyundai XG250L.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Corigliano Towing. At the time of this article no summons were issued. There were no injuries reported.
The accident was investigated by Parsippany-Troy Hills Patrolman James Seeger.
PHS Bands holds car wash to raise money to attend Ms. America Parade
PARSIPPANY — Parsippany High School Bands held a Car Wash fundraiser on Saturday, July 18 at the Parsippany HIgh School parking lot. The members are currently raising funds to pay for busses to the Ms. America Parade held in Atlantic City, on Saturday, September 12. The band will be marching in the parade.
Parsippany-Troy Hills Fire District 5 holds car wash
PARSIPPANY — Parsippany-Troy Hills Volunteer Fire District 5 held a car wash on Sunday, July 19. The weather cooperated with temperatures up to 100 degrees in Parsippany. The members were washing cars as part of their annual fund-raising activities.
Parsippany-Troy Hills Councilman Michael dePierro was in line to have his car wash. Mr. dePierro is a supporter of District 5 and is seen at all of their fundraising events.
Both drivers charged with careless driving; traffic light hit
PARSIPPANY — Mr. David Mecca, 27, Montville was traveling south on North Beverwyck Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto Vail Road and was struck by a 2014 Mitsubishi driven by Mr. Vincent M. Trabucco, 22, Randolph, on Friday, July 10, at 8:15 p.m.
Mr.Trabucco was traveling north on North Beverwyck Road when he proceeded to go around another vehicle that stopped at the light on North Beverwyck Road at the traffic light. Going through the traffic light he was struck on the driver’s side causing him to jump a curb, and knock down a traffic signal.
Police investigation revealed that both vehicles were at fault for attempting to make it through the light on a yellow signal.
Both drivers were issued a summons for Careless Driving by Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Officer Clarence DeLoatch.
Mr. Meccas was driving a 2013 Nissan. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Eagle Towing.
Master bedroom ransacked on Barbara Street
PARSIPPANY — A Barbara Street resident contacted the Parsippany Police Department to report a burglary to their residence, on July 14 at 6:23 p.m.
Parsippany-Troy Hills Patrol Officer G. Lowe responded to the scene and spoke to the resident who advised him that someone entered the house through a rear exterior door.
The resident further stated that the unknown actor(s) ransacked the master bedroom and stole jewelry and various personal documents.

Dogs of War: Rock n’ Roll Ball set to raise money for wounded
MORRIS PLAINS — Music promoters Dan Glenn and Joe Gorgolione, along with radio station WDHA, and several of New Jersey’s top bands have joined to raise money for K9s For Warriors and Community Hope with this year’s Rock n’ Roll Ball.
Service dogs have long been an important part of recovery and rehabilitation for wounded veterans and K9s For Warriors is vital in providing men and women returning from war with these animals. “Wounded veterans sometimes need service animals that can alert on medical symptoms long before they become obvious to human beings…” said Dan Glenn, “these dogs are specifically trained and matched with veterans to aid in their recovery and acclimation to civilian life…” he added.
Community Hope is an outreach program providing housing and many other essential services to transitioning veterans.
“We’re trying to raise as much money as possible for these great causes and we have gotten an amazing amount of support from local businesses and radio station WDHA to make that happen,” said Glenn, “we have the best of New Jersey’s rock bands and expect a great turnout…” he continued.
The outdoor event is slated for Saturday, August 1 at VFW Post 3401, 45 Tabor Road, Morris Plains. Admission to the show is $20.00 (split between both charities) and will feature bands from 1:00 p.m. to to 9:00 p.m. as well as food and prizes. Entertainment will include Audio Empire, Till Now, Subcommittee, Bubba Grouch and Eli as well as other acts to be announced.

Workers at UPS steal cell phones from packages
PARSIPPANY — UPS security personnel contacted the Parsippany Police Department to report they had two employees they suspected of stealing items out of packages prior to loading them into the shipping trailers, on Wednesday, July 15 at 8:11 a.m.
Patrol Officer A. Van Orden and J. Lubeck responded to UPS and spoke to UPS security personnel. Through the course of their investigation, along with evidence received from UPS security, Sean Stevenson, 26, North Haledon and Joseph Meola, 27, Hawthorne, were placed under arrest and transported back to Parsippany Police Headquarters.
Mr. Meola was charged with Theft of Movable Property for the theft of a cell phone. Mr. Stevenson was charged with Theft of Movable Property for the theft of five cell phones.
Both parties were released pending their court appearance.

Out of state driver arrested for DWI
PARSIPPANY — Patrol Officer P. Kolln was making a left turn from Baldwin Road onto Route 46 east, on Thursday, July 9 at 11:29 p.m.
As the officer was turning he observed a vehicle driving west in the left lane of Route 46 east at which time he activated his emergency lights and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
The 2012 Ford Escape came to a stop in the left lane of Route 46 east. After a brief investigation, the driver, Bridget McNulty, 26, Green Harbor, MA was arrested for suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Police Headquarters.
While at Police Headquarters she was issued summons for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving the Wrong Way on Route 46.
She was released to an acquaintance, pending her court appearance.

Christopher Beyel Shoplifts at Home Depot
PARSIPPANY — Home Depot Asset Protection contacted the Parsippany Police Department to report they had a shoplifter detained in the store on Tuesday, July 7 at 4:29 p.m.
Patrol Officer P. Kolln and C. Cifaldi responded to the scene. Once on scene they were advised by Asset Protection personnel that Christopher Beyel, 23, Parsippany, had placed three different power tools into his cart and exited the store.
Asset Protection personnel then stopped him and brought him back inside the store until Parsippany Police arrived.
Mr. Beyel was arrested and transported back to Parsippany Police Headquarters. He was issued a summons for Shoplifting and released pending his court appearance.

Vehicle stolen from Marcella Road; recovered in Newark
PARSIPPANY — A resident on Marcella Road contacted the Parsippany Police Headquarters to report that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway between Monday, July 6 at 11:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 7 at 7:15 a.m.
Patrol Officer J. Michel arrived on scene and spoke to the resident. Through his investigation it was determined that the vehicle, a black 2014 Infiniti Q50, was stolen.
Shortly after the initial call, Parsippany Police received notification from Newark Police Department that the vehicle was recovered in Newark.
