PARSIPPANY — A Parsippany native has died following a motorcycle accident in South Carolina, Lexington County Coroner’s Office said.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victim as Pablo Marcelo Caballero Molina, 21, who grew up in Parsippany before later living in Hopkins, South Carolina.
According to Fisher, the crash occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. on June 28 on I-77 southbound near the I-26 interchange at mile marker 1. Caballero Molina was riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he struck a concrete barrier and was thrown from the vehicle, authorities said.
Caballero Molina was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
Before joining the Air Force and moving to Hopkins, Caballero Molina worked at Café Crevier in Denville, according to restaurant representatives.
A GoFundMe launched to support Caballero Molina’s family called him “more than an employee,” adding that he was loved like a little brother.
Pablo recently made the brave decision to serve our country and joined the Air Force. He was so proud of this next chapter in his life, and everyone around him was proud of him too. He had such a big future ahead of him and touched so many lives with his kindness, loyalty, humor, and heart.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support Caballero Molina’s family with funeral expenses, memorial costs, and other needs in the coming days. As of Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe had raised more than $9,000. Donate here.
The Coroner’s Office extended condolences to Caballero Molina’s family and friends.
