PARSIPPANY — The Parsippany Police Athletic League (PAL) is proud to announce a new partnership with Mathnasium of Parsippany, expanding the PAL’s commitment to providing local children with opportunities to learn, grow, compete and stay engaged in a positive and safe environment.
The partnership represents an important step in the PAL’s vision of becoming a place where children can spend their afternoons and evenings receiving both academic support and recreational opportunities — all under one roof.
Beginning this fall, Mathnasium programming at the Parsippany PAL will provide opportunities for students to receive math instruction and homework support, with additional initiatives being explored including math competitions, SAT preparation and other educational programming.
Registration for the first Mathnasium programming at the Parsippany PAL is expected to open Monday, August 31. Families are encouraged to follow the Parsippany PAL and Mathnasium of Parsippany for registration information and additional program announcements.
For PAL leadership, however, the partnership represents something even bigger.
“Our goal is to keep kids engaged, keep them off the streets and give parents a place where they know their children can be safe and productive,” said Nicholas Bronzino, Executive Director of the Parsippany PAL. “We want a child to be able to come through our doors after school, get homework or math help through Mathnasium, and then transition directly into one of our core programs — whether that’s basketball, wrestling, cheerleading or another activity.”
Rather than families having to travel from one location to another for academics, athletics and enrichment, the PAL’s long-term vision is to create an environment where those opportunities can increasingly exist together.
“A kid might come here for homework help, stay for basketball practice, or discover wrestling, cheerleading or another program they’ve never tried before,” Bronzino continued. “Most importantly, they’re here. They’re engaged. They’re around coaches, mentors and other kids, and we know they’re in a safe environment. That is what the PAL is supposed to be about.”
The partnership with Mathnasium also reinforces the PAL’s continued expansion beyond traditional athletics. While sports remain at the core of the organization, PAL leadership has placed an increased emphasis on educational programming, mentorship, community engagement and partnerships that support the development of the whole child.
Mathnasium specializes in individualized math instruction designed to strengthen students’ skills, improve confidence and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. Through the new partnership, Mathnasium and the PAL will work together to identify additional ways to make educational programming accessible and exciting for local youth.
Future collaboration may include math competitions and challenges, SAT preparation, academic enrichment opportunities, special events and other programs designed to make learning another important part of the PAL experience.
“We’re building something where the PAL can be part of a child’s entire afternoon and evening in a positive way,” Bronzino said. “Education, athletics, mentorship and community can all work together. The more opportunities we can create for our kids here, the greater impact we can have on their futures.”
Additional details regarding Mathnasium programming and registration will be announced beginning Monday, August 31.
