PARSIPPANY — Parsippany Hills High School opened its 2026 football season with a narrow road victory Friday, August 28, defeating Paramus, 23-21.
The Vikings came away with the two-point win in Paramus to begin the season 1-0. The victory also marked a strong opening result for a Parsippany Hills program coming off a 2-8 season in 2025.
Dante Gutierrez provided one of the biggest plays of the game, breaking free for a 51-yard rushing touchdown.
Will Maass also found the end zone for the Vikings, scoring on a 26-yard touchdown reception. The extra point following the score was converted. Maass, a returning member of the Parsippany Hills program, was also among the seniors recognized during the school’s preseason Motorcade earlier in the week.
Ben Ferrante contributed on special teams, connecting on a 26-yard field goal as Parsippany Hills ultimately held on for the 23-21 victory.
The close finish gave the Vikings an early-season road win before they return to Parsippany for their home opener against West Morris Mendham on Friday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m.
Parsippany Hills will then travel across town for the annual matchup against Parsippany High School on Thursday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m.
