PARSIPPANY — Parsippany High School opened its 2026 football season in convincing fashion Saturday, August 29, defeating Sussex County Tech, 21-0, on the road in Sparta.
The RedHawks found the end zone three times, with all three touchdowns coming on the ground. Quarterback Mason Alameda, Jaylen Taylor, and Pruthvi Shetye each scored rushing touchdowns to lead the Parsippany offense.
Alameda, in his first season leading the RedHawks at quarterback, helped guide Parsippany to the opening-day victory while also contributing one of the team’s three touchdowns.
Taylor and Shetye added rushing scores of their own, giving Parsippany a balanced ground attack with three different players reaching the end zone.
Just as significant was the performance of the Parsippany defense. The RedHawks kept Sussex Tech off the scoreboard for the entire game, securing a shutout and giving Parsippany a 1-0 start to the season.
The victory provides an early boost for a Parsippany program looking to turn the page after finishing 1-9 during the 2025 season.
Parsippany will now return home for its next matchup against North Warren Regional on Friday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m. North Warren will also enter the game 1-0 after opening its season with a 32-0 victory over Bound Brook.
