Dear Editor:

Subject: Ordinance 2026:43 – 10 Megawatt AI Facility

AI Scrutiny – Tax Rateable Chase – Think Ecology First – “Ecological Sense” is the common sense required for our times – “we have none,” we have engineered fantasy.

Parsippany without an “Environmental Commission” remains weak against developers.

AI Scrutiny Answer No

If any AI proposals do not have their own renewable energy source – NO

If they require any water supply from our deficit watershed – NO

If their noise heard exceeds 50 feet from any home – NO

If the present MAGA Administration supporters are behind any of these installations (they are) – NO

If we can not be guaranteed our utilities costs, both water and electric, will not increase as a direct result of this in any long term scenario – NO

A city or local council decision warrants a supermajority (usually 60%, two-thirds, or three-quarters of the vote) when the action involves permanent, structural, or high-stakes changes that require broad consensus or protection against hasty actions.

How many AI centers already exist, what is the exact non-speculated number required?

122 DATA CENTER BANS OR RESTRICTIONS PASSED, 13 INTRODUCED

Do we not need to conserve our water for the Housing Mandate? 10 Megawatts is no small amount!

  • Household scale: 10 megawatts is enough to continuously power roughly 5,000 to 10,000 typical homes, depending on average energy use.
  • Industrial scale: 10 MW is a common capacity for a small utility-scale solar farm, a large wind turbine array, or a heavy industrial facility (industrial gas turbines or generators, no superintelligence or ecological sense here).

Our Tax Dollars Required

So real needs, Healthcare, Education, Housing, Renewable Energy, put away.

Remember all this AI will be subsidized by our Tax Dollars, while we remain unsubsidized in other realms of need. Without our tax dollars the billionaire sponsors realize it’s a financial loser in that its costs are excessive, and the waste generated by replacement components is constant and in terms of perhaps 2-10 years lifespan or updates before replacement. These components require rare minerals of extraction from other places.

Our tax dollars will be taken on a Federal Level, so any rateable simply “may compensate” for something already paid for, and add other impact costs to the quality of life.

This whole AI is coming on too fast, and from a corrupted system of political financial influence. Parsippany already has two AI facilities; enough.

“Under our present economic system the Earth is in business liquidation.” – Herman Daly, Economist
