Dear Editor:

1515 PILOT. John Inglesino working for his rich corporate developers not Parsippany lives on.
Funny how these PILOT deals work. Plenty of space but little real affordable-housing, in 1515 case only 10%, not 20%, strange as in gentrification. If anything changed Parsippany should have demanded more “real affordable units” to lower our numbers, not Spas, or High End shopping stores.
How do we know these new franchises were not simply waiting in the wings, to fill the spaces?
PILOT deals all depend, in Parsippany’s perspective on them making money with rents and fees (unearned income) in order for us to collect in lieu of taxes our unknown, and changing amounts due.
At Council on October 20, $500,000 was mentioned with no timeline, and now depending on giving some Franchise a Space, into the PILOT mystery of paying up to the Town.
Affordable Hoax Stop Building Lower the Rents Fill the Space
NO NEED for more ecological destruction, most affordable units, are NOT AFFORDABLE, stop building lower the rents, the need is affordable. These rich developers already own the land, they didn’t create that, all that can happen is their profits will slow down. Market will bear but economy will not. The whole thing is out of control, and never meant to be like this. Oh just leave it up to the markets?! Markets alienated from people’s reality, in an economy to nowhere.
Tax Rateable Chase Leads to In Need of Redevelopment due to Over-Development
The Corporate Tax Rateable Chase has left Parsippany over-developed, in need of redevelopment; and 30 year PILOT Deals, which will short change Parsippany Residents. It’s too late, land lost is lost forever. All this has made Parsippany-Troy Hills subjected to the next phase of the so-called affordable housing fiasco. So in the long run the rateable chase was overdone.
The plan’s former dynamic of local and regional needs for housing has also been erased.
(The State unfortunately and unwisely rejected giving credits for Regional Contribution Agreements (RCAs) to relieve other places, with remaining sensitive landscapes to protect our State from senseless new development.) Parsippany’s over-developed landscape would have benefited from this.
The whole Affordable Housing issue has been lost in senseless private litigations ignoring good land use, ecological factors, and State Plan.
All your problems in finance stem from Washington, Economy is a political decision of social equity, and justice. In short there is no science of economy, but a science of living, and caring. The empire (USA) chooses not to support the states of the United States in their actual need, as in Health Care, Housing, Education, Infrastructure.
This Isn’t 1776 Anymore, and Great Nature Where All Wealth Originates Is Gone Replaced by Man
A huge part of the problem is the Jeffersonian notion that “the government that governs best is the one that governs least.” While it is true as regards individual liberties, it is absolutely dangerous to think that way as regards economy…
