MORRIS COUNTY — Joe Hathaway, Republican nominee for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, has received the endorsement of the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association (PBA), one of the state’s most prominent law enforcement organizations.

“I am incredibly honored to have earned the endorsement of the New Jersey State PBA and the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep our families safe,” said Hathaway. “As a former Mayor, I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make and the challenges they face. I’ve always stood with our police officers, and I always will. They deserve leaders in Washington who have their backs, not politicians who undermine their work or treat them as the enemy. In Congress, our law enforcement community will always have a strong and unwavering ally in me.”

The Hathaway campaign also took aim at the record of Democratic Congresswoman Analilia Mejia, saying it has repeatedly put her at odds with law enforcement. According to the campaign, Mejia has:

  • Voted against a congressional resolution recognizing National Police Week
  • Voted against House Concurrent Resolution 96, a congressional resolution supporting law enforcement
  • Aligned herself with the far-left progressive movement, whose calls to defund the police and radically reshape public safety have drawn widespread criticism
  • Posted on social media about her discomfort with police officers, calling them racist
  • Led the New Jersey Working Families Party, which advocated for defunding the police

“While Analilia Mejia continues to side with the radical activists who have spent years attacking law enforcement, I’m proud to stand with the officers who protect our neighborhoods,” Hathaway continued. “Public safety should never be a partisan issue. Our families deserve safe streets, our police deserve respect, and our communities deserve a Congressman who understands both.”

The State PBA endorsed Hathaway as part of its congressional endorsements this election cycle, backing candidates from both political parties. Hathaway was among three Republican challengers to Democratic incumbents to earn the organization’s support.

Hathaway has served on the Randolph Township Council and is the immediate past Mayor. He lives in Randolph with his wife, Whitney, and their three young children. For more information, visit joehathawayforcongress.com.
