PARSIPPANY — The Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department will host a free 10-week Citizen’s Police Academy, presented by Mayor Pulkit Desai, running Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Parsippany Police Headquarters between September 17 and November 19.
The program is limited to 20 applicants and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis upon completion of an application.
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a resident of Parsippany
- Be a Parsippany business owner (on a limited basis)
- Be a Parsippany township employee (on a limited basis)
The academy is designed to increase communication and partnership between residents and police through education and discussion, with the goal of fostering a safer community. Classes will cover a range of law enforcement topics, including criminal investigations, firearms, use of force, officer safety, motor vehicle stops, and technology used in modern law enforcement, combining classroom instruction with practical scenarios.
