PARSIPPANY โ Mayor Pulkit Desai joined members of Sons of Italy Lodge 2561 of Parsippany-Morris County on Monday, October 12, to raise the Italian flag at Parsippany Town Hall, 1001 Parsippany Boulevard.

The 5:00 p.m. ceremony took place on Columbus Day and marked Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month in the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills.
Last week, on Tuesday, October 6, Desai presented the Sons of Italy with a proclamation declaring October as Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month in the township. The proclamation celebrates the heritage, history, traditions and achievements of Italian Americans and recognizes their contributions to business, education, government, science, medicine, law, the arts, athletics, public service and the United States Armed Forces.

The proclamation also notes that New Jersey is home to one of the largest Italian-American populations in the country, and it encourages all residents to join in celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Italian Americans.
Sons of Italy Lodge 2561 will hold its 11th Annual Beefsteak Dinner on Saturday, November 14, at the Bloomingdale Firehouse, 97 Hamburg Turnpike, Bloomingdale. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
