MORRIS COUNTY โ The County College of Morris (CCM) is inviting students, graduates and general job seekers to its Criminal Justice Career Fair on Thursday, November 19.
“Career fairs give students, job seekers and career changers the chance to talk directly with professionals who know their fields and find out what employers are looking for,” said Maureen Kazaba, professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at CCM. “You don’t have to be a criminal justice major to benefit. There are many career paths to explore, and meeting employers in person can also help students discover the education needed for opportunities they may not have considered.”
The free event will bring together more than 30 employers and agencies at the federal, state and local levels of law enforcement, public safety, emergency management and legal services. It will also include interactive exhibits and career insights.
According to labor market data from JobsEQ, approximately 4,500 people in Morris County work in occupations related to criminal justice and police science, with a projected need for more than 3,200 newly trained workers over the next seven years. Statewide, there is a projected need for nearly 46,000 newly trained workers across New Jersey over the same period.
Prospective students seeking a college education can learn about CCM’s associate degrees and certificates of achievement in criminal justice, justice studies, legal studies and emergency services, and how to apply for admission at CCM.
Attendees are welcome to bring copies of their resume as they introduce themselves to the participating organizations, including the United States Secret Service, New Jersey Army National Guard, New Jersey Courts Morris and Sussex Vicinage, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Morris County Office of Temporary Assistance, Morris County Communications Center, Rutgers University, New Jersey Institute of Technology Department of Public Safety and Navigating Hope.
Police departments from local towns, including Butler, Chester, Denville, Dover, Hanover, Madison, Morris Plains, Morristown, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Rockaway and Wharton, along with the New Jersey State Police and New York Police Department Recruitment Section, are also among the participants.
CCM’s Criminal Justice program has been recognized by College Factual as among the top 10% of criminal justice programs nationwide and as a Best School for Associate Students to Study Criminal Justice and Corrections. The program has also received recognition from Best Accredited Colleges and Niche.
The career fair is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until 12:00 p.m. in the Jack Martin Gymnasium at CCM’s Health and Physical Education Building. Students attending the career fair should register in advance. Click here to register.
