PARSIPPANY — Parsippany Hills High School fell to Montville, 42-21, on Friday, September 18, as the Vikings dropped to 2-2 on the season. The road matchup was played at Montville Township High School.
Despite the loss, the connection between quarterback Nick Napolitano and wide receiver Will Maass continued to produce for the Parsippany Hills offense.
All three of the Vikings’ touchdowns came through the same combination, with Napolitano finding Maass for each score. Maass accounted for all 21 of Parsippany Hills’ points through his three touchdown receptions and the ensuing extra points.
The performance continued a strong start to the season for Maass. He caught a 26-yard touchdown in the season-opening 23-21 victory over Paramus, followed that with two touchdown receptions against Mendham, and added another touchdown in the Vikings’ 27-0 win over Parsippany High School.
With three more scores against Montville, Maass has now caught seven touchdown passes through the Vikings’ first four games.
Napolitano has been responsible for each of those touchdown passes, with the quarterback and Maass quickly developing into one of the Vikings’ most productive offensive combinations.
Montville, however, was able to consistently find the end zone and pull away for the 42-21 victory. The win improved the Mustangs to 3-1 and extended their winning streak to three games, while Parsippany Hills returned to .500 at 2-2. MaxPreps.com
The loss comes one week after Parsippany Hills shut out crosstown rival Parsippany, 27-0. Through four games, the Vikings have defeated Paramus and Parsippany while falling to Mendham and Montville. MaxPreps.com
Parsippany Hills will now return home looking to rebound when it hosts Sparta on Friday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m.
