PARSIPPANY — Parsippany resident Dawn Ward-Lau is currently in first place in her group in Colossal’s nationwide Face of Halloween competition, which raises money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Ward-Lau, creator of the popular Mount Tabor Ghost Walk, is no stranger to volunteering.
The competition, run by professional fundraiser Colossal, dares one lucky horror fan to become the Face of Halloween and hunt ghosts with Kane Hodder, known for his role as Jason Voorhees in the “Friday the 13th” films. The winner receives a $13,000 prize and a feature in Rue Morgue Magazine alongside genre legends.
Proceeds support the Starlight Children’s Foundation through grantmaker AIT. Starlight delivers programs that ease fear, distract from pain and spark joy for children facing illness, helping them feel better through play, comfort and imagination.
Voting for the Top 15 round ends Thursday, October 29, at 11:00 p.m. Eastern time. Supporters can cast one free vote per day, and additional votes can be purchased through tax-deductible donations at $1 per vote.
