PARSIPPANY — Parsippany-Troy Hills students return to class on Wednesday, September 2, as the school district continues to track enrollment changes tied to new housing developments across the township.
At a recent Board of Education meeting, officials said student enrollment from new housing developments has grown by 51 since June, bringing the total number of students requiring busing from those developments to 129.
At the same time, overall district enrollment is down about 321 students compared with last year, according to figures presented at the meeting.
Board member Tim Berrios asked how many students would be bused specifically from 1515 Route 10. Board President Alison Cogan said 12 students, based on the latest update provided by Mrs. Tiffany Pizza.
Board members also pointed to the Lexica and PARQ developments as continuing sources of enrollment growth, noting that anticipated increases from new housing are already factored into the district’s planning.
The Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education will meet next at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, at the Calabria Education Center.
