PARSIPPANY — Mutual Morris, one of New Jersey’s longest-running mutual aid groups, will host an introductory presentation on mutual aid at the Main Parsippany Library on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m.
Thousands of families across Morris County, and many more around the world, have received support during the coronavirus pandemic, storms, poverty and homelessness, and other crises through mutual aid. Countless mutual aid groups have formed and are active in communities responding to need and building systems to care for people over the long term.
The presentation, titled “Mutual Aid 101,” will address what mutual aid is, how it works, and why communities practice it. It will also explore how mutual aid differs from other kinds of support programs, how it can help keep communities safe and well, and how residents can get involved and benefit from participating.
Organizers say the event is intended for anyone looking for a new sense of community, an opportunity to help neighbors and share their gifts, or a way to receive help and support themselves.
The presentation will take place at the Main Parsippany Library. Registration is required and is available through the library at this link.
