PARSIPPANY — Kura Revolving Sushi Bar has opened its Parsippany location, marking the Japan-based chain’s eighth restaurant in New Jersey.
The restaurant, located at The District at 15Fifteen on Route 10, held a soft opening on Saturday, August 9. Kura is known for its high-tech approach to sushi service, featuring a revolving conveyor belt that loops through the dining room, tableside tablets for ordering, and robots that deliver drinks to tables.
Founded 49 years ago in Japan, Kura’s menu includes more than 100 dishes spanning sushi, noodles, tempura, sides and desserts, all prepared without artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives or colorings. The chain has grown to nearly 100 locations in the United States since entering the market in 2008, and operates more than 650 locations worldwide.
Kura opened its first New Jersey location in Fort Lee six years ago and has since expanded to Cherry Hill, Edison, Freehold, Jersey City and Paramus.
The Parsippany restaurant occupies space in The District at 15Fifteen, a newly built 13-acre mixed-use development on the site of the former Intel Corporate Center. The development includes nearly 500 apartments and almost 60,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, along with a planned 156-room Residence Inn by Marriott. As of July, the retail portion of the property was 65 percent leased.
Discover Strength fitness studio was the first tenant to open at the development. Other businesses expected to open there include O’Bagel, Pure Green, Hometown Creamery, Burton’s Grill & Bar, Meximodo, Al-Basha, Haraz Coffee House, The Yard Gym and Moxie Salon and Beauty Bar.
