PARSIPPANY — The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, the early 20th-century historic home of Gustav Stickley, invites the public to a free Makers Day Open House on Saturday, October 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Makers Day Open House will highlight the works within the museum and those of talented artisan vendors and live demonstrators, celebrating the art of craft in both historic and contemporary forms. The event will take place across the Craftsman Farms property and will include open-house access to the Log House and North Cottage, both adorned with period furniture, textiles, metals and ceramics from the museum collection.
Completed more than a century ago, the Log House is one of the most important architectural achievements of the Arts and Crafts movement in America. Originally designed as a clubhouse, it became the Stickley family home and remains the heart of the property today. Docents will be available throughout the museum and grounds to share information about the history and significance of the site.
The event will feature local artisan vendors selling handmade pottery, baskets and textiles, while sharing their artistic processes with visitors.
Guests will also be able to explore the 30-acre landscape of Craftsman Farms and participate in collaborative demonstrations of basket and textile weaving.
The Craftsman Shop will be open for shopping and will feature a curated selection of contemporary Arts and Crafts and seasonal gifts. Guests can browse custom jewelry and accessories, books, home décor, toys and museum-exclusive items.
