PARSIPPANY โ€” Parsippany Fire District 6 is hosting a donation drive to collect relief supplies for families and communities affected by a recent earthquake in Colombia.

The drive is accepting donations at the fire district’s headquarters at 60 Littleton Road. Drop-off hours are Wednesday, August 12 through Friday, August 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Parsippany Fire District 6 has a strong personal connection to Colombia, with seven Colombian members currently serving in the department. Many of their family members and loved ones still live in Colombia, including some who have been directly affected by the recent earthquake. This relief effort hits especially close to home for our department. Over the past two years, District 6 has also supported the Colombian fire service by donating firefighting gear, hose, tools, and other equipment to a fire department in Colombia. Our connection to the country and its firefighters has continued to grow, making it especially important for us to come together and help during this difficult time.

Items needed include non-perishable food, baby supplies and diapers, personal hygiene products, first-aid supplies, blankets, and new or gently used clothing and shoes in clean, good condition, along with other essential relief supplies.

Lieutenant Andres Giraldo said donations from residents, local businesses, neighboring fire departments, emergency medical services agencies, police departments, and community organizations are welcome, and that any contribution, regardless of size, can make a difference.

“Together, we can make a difference,” said Lieutenant Andres Giraldo.
