PARSIPPANY. The Parsippany Cube Club is inviting cubers of every skill level to compete at its Winter Comp 2026 on Saturday, December 19, at the Gateway Community Resource Center, 513 Birch Street in Boonton. The competition begins at 12 p.m.
Competitors can enter three events, the standard 3×3 Rubik’s Cube, the 2×2 pocket cube and the Pyraminx. The club says speed is not a requirement, and that many first time competitors come simply to set an official time they can work to beat at the next event.
Entry is $45 per participant. Only 40 spots are available, and registration closes once they are filled.
Interested cubers can register online through the Parsippany Cube Club website. After submitting the form, registrants will receive an email with payment instructions within a few hours. The fee can be paid by Zelle or Venmo, and a spot is secured only after payment is received. Details for competition day are sent once payment is confirmed.

Every competitor solves under the same conditions. After an official scramble, a judge starts a 15 second inspection period. The competitor then places both hands on the timer pads, solves the puzzle and stops the timer, and the judge records the time on a scorecard that both sign. Most rounds use an average of five solves, with the best and worst times dropped. Between their own solves, competitors may be asked to help by judging or scrambling.
Participants should check in at the front table a little before 12 p.m. The club suggests bringing a main cube for each event entered, a backup cube, water and a snack, a case for the puzzles, and the confirmation email. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each event at the end of the day.
For first timers, club coaches recommend practicing with the 15 second inspection period and sticking with a familiar cube rather than switching setups during competition week.
