PARSIPPANY โ Mayor Pulkit Desai spent a rainy first morning of the school year alongside crossing guard Dianna Birth outside Central Middle School, helping usher students safely across the street as the new academic year got underway.
Desai, wearing a safety vest, joined Birth on her post to thank her and the township’s other crossing guards for the work they do keeping students safe every morning and afternoon, rain or shine.
“Our crossing guards are often the first friendly face our kids see each day,” Desai said. “I wanted to be out there with Dianna to show our appreciation and to welcome families back for the new school year.”
Township officials remind residents to use caution near schools during morning and afternoon dismissal hours and to watch for children, buses and crossing guards in school zones.
