PARSIPPANY — The Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany held its annual school supplies collection, gathering backpacks, notebooks, folders and other classroom essentials for local students in need.
Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany President Bonnie Sturm, NJ District Kiwanis International Governor Frank Cahill and Parsippany Mayor Pulkit Desai joined club members for the collection effort.
The donated supplies are now available to families at the Parsippany Food Pantry, which distributes food and household items to residents facing hardship.
The school supplies drive is one of several community service projects the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany runs throughout the year in support of Parsippany-Troy Hills families and students.
Kiwanis International is a global service organization founded in 1915 and dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in communities around the world. Locally, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany carries out that mission through projects such as the school supplies drive, food pantry support and its affiliated Key Club, Builders Club, K-Kids, and Aktion Club, a Kiwanis-sponsored service club for adults with disabilities.
Club members meet regularly to plan service projects and fundraising events benefiting Parsippany-Troy Hills youth and families, and the club welcomes new members throughout the year.
