PARSIPPANY โ The Friends of Lake Hiawatha hit the jackpot on Saturday, October 3, as close to 200 people filled the Parsippany Police Athletic League, 33 Baldwin Road, for the group’s Casino Night fundraiser to bring holiday decorations back to the North Beverwyck Road corridor.

Neighbors, local business owners and community members filled the hall from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for an evening of casino-style games, prize baskets and a meal provided by the Sons of Italy. Each guest received $100 in play money to test their luck and skill at the tables.
“It was an exciting evening, and everyone enjoyed themselves,” said Antoinette Simmons, President of the Friends of Lake Hiawatha. “The amount we made exceeded expectations, and we are grateful to everyone who came out to support bringing holiday decorations back to North Beverwyck Road.”

For years, the Friends of Lake Hiawatha decorated North Beverwyck Road for the holidays. When the revitalization project began, the old decorations were no longer compatible with the new light posts, leaving the corridor without holiday decorations during construction. With the project nearing completion, the strong turnout puts the organization well on its way to restoring holiday cheer to the business district.

All proceeds from the evening will go directly toward purchasing new decorations designed to fit the updated light posts.
The Friends of Lake Hiawatha is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In addition to decorating the corridor, the group hosts the annual Winterfest celebration, a community favorite featuring the arrival of Santa.
