PARSIPPANY โ Kyle Furfaro is lacing up his running shoes for a cause close to his heart, raising money for Push to Walk in honor of his friend, Noah Lorencovitz.
Lorencovitz suffered cardiac arrest during physical education class at Central Middle School on March 3, 2016, when he was in eighth grade. He has been persevering on the road to recovery ever since and now visits Push to Walk once a week, where specialized equipment and neuro-exercise trainers help him maintain a consistent exercise routine.
The fundraising effort is centered around the Rocky Run 13.1 Italian Stallion Challenge, a half marathon that Furfaro will run in Philadelphia on Saturday, November 14. The two have been close friends since kindergarten, and Furfaro said he chose a cause that could also benefit others who have suffered injuries similar to Lorencovitz’s.
Push to Walk, located in Montvale, is dedicated to meeting the physical fitness needs of individuals who have suffered serious neurological and spinal cord injuries and are unable to exercise on their own, through specialized training and equipment. The clients of the gym are the ultimate beneficiaries of the campaign.
The money raised will support the gym wherever it is needed most, whether that means helping clients pay for their sessions or, if enough funds are raised, purchasing new equipment.
Donations will be collected through Saturday, November 14, the day of the race. There is no minimum or maximum, and donations of any amount can make a meaningful difference. To donate, click here.
