Morris Plains resident charged with DWI

PARSIPPANY — Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Officer R. Taylor was patrolling Route 10 West at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, when he observed a 2015 Porsche Carrera commit a motor vehicle violation.

He conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 53/Tabor Road and made contact with Mr. Gilbert Velez, 45, Morris Plains.

While speaking to Mr. Velez, Officer Taylor detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from him. After a brief investigation, Mr. Velez was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Headquarters for processing.

While there, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Improper Safety Glass (Tint) and Failure to Maintain Lane.

He was released on his own recognizance pending his court date.
