Parsippany resident charged with Shoplifting at Target

PARSIPPANY — Patrol Officer R. Appel and S. Kurza responded to Target at 3:06 p.m. on Sunday, November 18 for a reported shoplifting. Upon their arrival, they spoke to Loss Prevention personnel who advised them that they stopped a male from exiting the store, after they observed him remove a cellphone case from the packaging and conceal it on himself.

Officers spoke to the suspect and after a brief investigation placed him under arrest and transported him to police headquarters for processing.

While at headquarters, it was discovered that the suspect had given them a false name and date of birth and his true identity was Brent Deberry, 24, Parsippany.

He was charged with the following offenses:
• 1 count of Fourth Degree Hindering Apprehension
• Shoplifting, a Disorderly Persons Offense

He was released on his own recognizance pending his court date.
