PARSIPPANY — The National Weather Services reports that heavy mixed precipitation possible tonight but the storm will become mainly a snow event Wednesday,
Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches are expected in portions of northern New Jersey.
According to weather reports, this storm will last from 6:00 p.m. this evening to 2:00 a.m. Thursday. Snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain at times will develop Tuesday afternoon and especially this evening, then change to all snow overnight and continue heavy at times Wednesday.
The snow will taper off Wednesday evening. Roads especially in the hilly areas may become impassable if one to three inches per hour snowfall rates develop as expected Wednesday afternoon. Power outages are possible. Northeast to north winds should gust 20 to 30 mph at times.
Parsippany Police Department said “Is mother nature having a good time playing with the weather? We went from barely any snow predicted two days ago, to possibly up to 10 inches by Wednesday! With that said please get your shovels out and your snow blowers primed. Hopefully this is our very last storm to deal with. Please don’t forget to remove your cars from the public roadway before the storm. We really do not like ticketing and towing illegally parked vehicles. We unfortunately had to multiple times last storm.”
