BOONTON — Upon further investigation, the Boonton Police Department is providing updated information on the description of the suspect and type vehicle believed to be involved in the attempted abduction. The sketch (at left) and vehicle information has been provided from accounts of the victim.
On Tuesday, March 24 at 4:57 p.m., our agency responded to a possible attempted child abduction that occurred at the intersection of Cedar and Liberty Street.
Upon Officers arrival they spoke with a 10 year old female who stated that while walking home from school, a male in his 20’s, driving a black four door sedan similar to a Lincoln Town Car livery cab, pulled alongside her, then stopped, at which time the driver exited the vehicle. He then approached, and grabbed the female’s right arm, without saying anything to her.
At that time the female pulled away and ran home, having observed the male get back into his car and drive off up Liberty Street and in the direction of Wootton Street. The driver was described as being in his 20’s, approximately 5’9, wearing black cargo pants, black boots, and a black t-shirt with an image of a skull on it. He was also wearing a black mask over his face leaving the top part of his head exposed.
During further investigation, the victim further described the suspect as having “olive” or a light tan skin tone and having short cropped hair with a distinct, neatly “shaped” hairline. The vehicle is being described as a newer black “Lincoln Town Car type vehicle.”
The Boonton Police will continuing to increase uniform and undercover patrols throughout the Town as this investigation continues to progress.
