Danielle Davis, PHHS sophomore receives proclamation

PARSIPPANY — Danielle Davis, an honor student and active sophomore at Parsippany Hills High School received a proclamation from Mayor James Barberio recently. Dannielle is the winner of the Gold Medal at the US Figure Skating National Solo Dance Series in the Silver Level held in Colorado Springs September 17 to 20, 2014, where she competed against girls from across the United States.

The proclamation stated:

Whereas, Danielle Davis, an honor student and active sophomore at Parsippany Hills High School. is the winner of the Gold Medal at the US Figure Skating National Solo Dance Series in the Silver Level held in Colorado Springs September 17 to 20, 2014, where she competed against girls from across the United States; and

Whereas, in order to qualify for the Nationals, it was necessary for Danielle to place in the top six for her level and region. With an outstanding performance, she ranked first in the Silver Dances for the North Atlantic region which paved her way to compete in the Nationals; and

Whereas, Danielle Davis started skating at the age of four and became an ice dancer merely three years ago. As a talented skater, she has competed in local competitions and excelled on many levels competing in the Morris Open, 51st NJ Council of Figure Skating Championship, Southern Connecticut Open, the May Day Open and Chesapeake Open in Maryland, the Lake Placid Ice Dance competition and skate Wilmington in Delaware; and

Whereas, in addition to ice skating. Danielle finds time to excel in the field of music, playing the mellophone for the Marching Band and the double French horn in the Wind Ensemble; and

Whereas, through hard work and dedication, Danielle Davis practices six days a week at 5:00 a.m. for 2 hours and is able to efficiently manage her time to keep up with her studies and musical obligations. Danielle Davis represents the outstanding tradition of excellence of our community’s student athletes and the unwavering pride and spirit that are the heart of the Parsippany.

Now, therefore, I, James R. Barberio, Mayor of the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills. sincerely thank Danielle Davis for her steadfast discipline, devotion and determination to succeed and do hereby extend congratulations for her many achievements and the pride that she has brought to her school. her parents, coaches, peers and to the community.
