Parsippany High School graduate, Hannah Feldman, has been awarded the Jackie Scura’s Chance for Success Scholarship.
Feldman’s independence and confidence in herself came through clearly in her application, Scura said. Feldman has worked steadily since the age of 16 while challenging herself to excel at school.
This determination took her from struggling academically to the High Honor Roll in her senior year.
Despite her busy schedule, Feldman contributed to her community as president of her Temple Youth Group, leader of the BRITE Club at Parsippany High School and a volunteer at her Hebrew school.
Never one to lose momentum, she got a jump start on her college career with courses at Richard Stockton College in Galloway this summer. She plans to continue her studies there with a double major in psychology and social work.
Feldman’s ultimate career goal is to become a counselor in order to help others.
In her essay, Feldman said, “I will make a path of my own choosing and walk down it alone.”
This is the 11th year that Realtor Jackie Scura has presented her scholarship to a local high school senior. It isn’t about recognizing academic achievement or athletic prowess. Each year, Scura looks for the candidate who she feels exemplifies the sort of work ethic which has brought her success in her own life and career.
“This scholarship is my vote of confidence in Hannah. Every great success story starts with the thought that you can get what you want, and Hannah has never let go of that thought when life got hard,” said Scura.
Feldman is a graduate of Parsippany High School, class of 2014.
