Patrol Officer Ross Cooper while on Old Chester Road, observed an unidentified blue four door vehicle strike a dog in the roadway and continue traveling West on Vail Road. This incident occurred on Thursday, August 21 at approximately 3:09 p.m.

Officer Cooper immediately rendered aid to the dog and with assistance from District Four Firefighter Christopher Cleary, the dog was transported to the Parsippany Troy Hills Animal Hospital on North Beverwyck Road.

The dog, a male Chihuahua, was treated and stabilized for a broken hip and head trauma. Parsippany Animal Control Officer Heidi Mooney also arrived at the hospital to follow up with the dog’s status.

At the time of the incident, no vehicle identifiers could be obtained from the suspect vehicle and no owner can be identified for the dog.
