Bria Saunders receives proclamation from Mayor Barberio

Bria Saunders, a graduate of Parsippany High School, received a proclamation from Mayor James Barberio while retired Track coach Walter Bleuler and Track coach Brianne DeGironimo looks on.

The Proclamation read:

Whereas, Bria Saunders, who graduated from Parsippany High School, is a renowned track sprinter in the State of New Jersey; and

Whereas, through hard work and dedication, Bria Saunders had an undefeated season in Spring of 2014 in the 200 meter Dash and earned All-State, All-Daily Record, All-Group “and All-Morris County First Team Honors; and

Whereas, through out her high school track career, Bria Saunders excelled at every level whereas she was a 3-time 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash Champion, 3-time 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash Morris County Champion, 3-time 55 Meter Dash State Sectional Champion, 3-time 400 Meter Dash State Sectional Champion, 4-time 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash State Sectional Champion, 3-time 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash Group 2 State Champion and the 2014 200 Meter Dash State Champion; and

Whereas, Bria Saunders is the Parsippany High School record holder in the 55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.21, 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.75 and 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.05. She is a member of the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, Sprint Medley Relay and Distance Medley Relay Record Team; and

Whereas, during her 4 years at Parsippany High School, Bria was selected as the Star Ledger Track Athlete of  the Week and recognized twice  as the Morris County Sprinter of the Year.  Bria  Saunders helped  her team win two NJAC Small School Division titles, consecutive Morris County Relay Small School Division titles and consecutive Morris County Small School Division titles.

Now therefore, I, James R. Barberio, Mayor of the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills, am justly proud to honor Bria Saunders upon the occasion of her numerous outstanding achievements in track and field and do hereby thank her for representing Parsippany with the highest ideals. I further extend congratulations  and best wishes for much success at Rutgers University as a member of the Scarlet Knights Women Track and Field Team and in all future endeavors.
