Residents have returned to their homes after a ruptured gas line prompted an evacuation in the Sedgefield section earlier Friday morning.
The scene played out at a construction site near Dartford Road and Exeter Street in Parsippany.
Crews evacuated two blocks around the area after officials say the 2-inch line was struck and ruptured approximately 8:00 a.m.
Parsippany Police Department sent out a reverse 911 call and went door to door, evacuating Devon Street and Exeter Street from Dartford Road to Sedgefield Drive. The evacuation was mandatory.
Representatives from New Jersey Natural Gas company were on the scene to shut it down and make repairs.
