Officer Michael Kimble responded to Route 10 West near the intersection of Powder Mill Road to investigate a report of a car fire at 8:26 p.m. on Friday, June 20.
Upon his arrival, Officer Kimble observed the vehicle in the third most left lane. The car was on fire and Mt. Tabor District 1 Fire was at the location extinguishing the flames.
The driver of the 2014 yellow Kia stated that he was stopped in traffic when he heard a pop sound just before smoke began to emanate from the engine compartment. The flames appeared a short time later. The driver was not injured.
