Power lines down on North Beverwyck Road; 1,500 lose electric

Jersey Central Power and Light and Optimum were on the scene of North Beverwcyk Road between Tioga Avenue and Oswego Avenue where wires were knocked down and a transformer blew.  They estimate greater than 1,500 customers, both residential and business were without electricity. There was also a transformer that blew and caused a smell of smoke at the Parsippany Community Center.  Sources state it was coming from the pump switches that burnt. Fire Districts 4 and 5 responded as well as Par Troy EMS.  Parsippany Township Maintenance workers were on the scene making repairs.
