Justin M. Hoffer, 26, Lake Hiawatha, was sentenced in Sussex County Courthouse after pleading guilty to third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree stalking, and fourth-degree contempt.
He was sentenced to three years probation recently after he admitted to burglary, among other offenses.
Police said in initial reports that Hoffer stalked a Byram Township resident, breaking into the resident’s home and vehicle.
On May 1, 2013 officers responded to a resident in the Lake Lackawanna section of Byram, and found someone had broken into a home and damaged several items.
They also learned that on prior occasions, someone had broken into the home as well as into the resident’s vehicle.
Detective Robert Tierney’s investigation lead to the arrest of Hoffer, whom police say entered the victim’s residence, damaged some of the victim’s property, entered the vehicle, stole items from the vehicle and damaged it.
It wasn’t clear from information provided by police at the time of the arrest how they identified Hoffer as a suspect in the break-ins, or what connection Hoffer might have to the victim.
