At the Council Meeting of Tuesday, May 20, Parsippany-Troy Hills Mayor James Barberio present Cross Wasilewski with a proclamation because Cross diligently organized sponsors to raise money for the Pin Cancer organization which works to raise awareness and fund cancer research.
The proclamation read:
Whereas, Cross Wasilewski, a third grade student at Lake Parsippany Elementary School, is a devoted and dedicated wrestler for both the Par-Troy Wrestling Club and the Scorpions of Fairfield; and
Whereas, to encourage the community and his fellow wrestlers to contribute to his efforts in joining the battle against cancer, Cross diligently organized sponsors to raise money for the Pin Cancer organization which works to raise awareness and fund cancer research; and
Whereas, as part of the Pin Cancer Project, Cross tirelessly devoted his time and energy to his wrestling practices in order to collect contributions from sponsors who donated a fixed dollar amount for every win, pin, or takedown he has had during the season; and
Whereas, it is important to recognize Cross’s commitment as a call to action against this dreaded disease as he continues to be an inspiration to members of the community; and
Whereas, Cross Wasilewski, as a source of pride to his family, friends, and fellow teammates, is commended for vigorously devoting his time and energy without desire for recognition; and
Whereas, Cross’s Pledge to Pin Cancer fundraiser has and continues to inspire awareness with success, he continues his efforts to reach his ultimate goal of winning states to promote his cause even further.
Now, Therefore, I, James R. Barberio, Mayor of the Township of Parsippany- Troy Hills do hereby congratulate Cross Wasilewski and acknowledge his humanitarian efforts and noble endeavors. I further urge my fellow residents to follow in his footsteps and utilize their time and talent to help and make a difference.
