Morristown selected for site of 2014 New Jersey AIDS Walk

aidswalkNew Jersey AIDS Services, a local non-profit AIDS Service organization that provides housing and social services for people living with HIV/AIDS has been selected as the Morristown Hosts of the 2014 New Jersey AIDS Walk. The New Jersey AIDS Walk, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 organization which collaborates with several New Jersey cities that are home to leading HIV/AIDS service organizations. These cities unite to produce state-wide awareness and fundraising walks. This year’s walk, presented by Janssen Therapeutics, will be held on Sunday, May 4. On this day, at exactly the same time, thousands upon thousands of people will walk in solidarity throughout the state of New Jersey in effort to raise funds and awareness for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Walks in all five cities are open to the public and registration is free. Walks will take place in Asbury Park, Atlantic City, Morristown, Newark and Ridgewood. A unified step-off in all cities will be at 1:00 p.m.

“The NJ AIDS Walk is a model of how collaboration among social service organizations can raise awareness and leverage support, accomplishing so much more than working independently”, said Laurie Litt-Robbins, CEO of New Jersey AIDS Services which organizes and hosts the walk’s Morristown location.

New Jersey has the fifth highest rate of HIV infection in the country. With more than 35,000 people currently living with HIV/AIDS in New Jersey, we have never needed community support more. Join us in fighting this pandemic by supporting the thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS in the Garden State by walking with us in the 2014 New Jersey AIDS Walk.

In addition to Janssen Therapeutics, Statewide Sponsors include Walgreens Pharmacy and Merck Pharmaceuticals. For more information on how to get involved as a walker or volunteer, please visit and click on the walk location you wish to support.
