On Sunday, March 16 at its 16th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon the Parsippany Democratic Committee Honored Michael Soriano, chairman of the committee since 2006.

Michael became active as a Parsippany Democrat in 2005 when he served as youth coordinator for Luther for Mayor campaign. Then in 2006 he was elected to chair the Parsippany Democratic Committee.

Under his leadership, the committee has instituted regular monthly meetings and has increased its community reach through Facebook and community events. A Young Democratic Club was organized during his chairmanship and has been active during important election cycles.

An Eagle Scout, Michael grew in Queens, New York and work for the Boy Scouts of America while attending John Jay College, from which he graduated in 1990 with a degree in Public Administration.

Starting with an apprenticeship in 1983, Michael became a journeyman electrician in 1999 and has served the IBEW Local #3 with various positions on the Apprentice Advisory Committee.

He serves as the Legislative Chairman of the Santiago Inglesias Educational Society.

Michael is married to Jennifer DeMaio and have a daughter Eleanor Jean.

Bob Keller, who was honored last year by the committee, actually started the St. Patrick’s Day Scholarship many years ago and used the luncheon to raise funds for scholarships to be given to two high school students in Parsippany each year. The Parsippany Democratic Committee continues this tradition today.
