The Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany recently conducted a club drive to collect cleaning supplies for the families served by Family Promise. Family Promise of Morris County is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending the crisis of homelessness faced by Morris County families by partnering with other public and private agencies, religious congregations and community volunteers to provide shelter, case management and mentoring services leading to self-sufficiency.

The Family Promise families will find  the cleaning supplies useful as they set up their first home or apartment. They  will be able to use the ShopRite gift cards to feed their families. “Our Club wants to help those who are less fortunate to get a good start in ending their homelessness and setting up a home for their families”, said Carol Tiesi, club president.

The Kiwanis members do their best to serve those in need in our community. The club’s focus is serving  children and their families. Some of the Club projects include: cooking and serving meals monthly at Homeless solutions; supporting  service and leadership initiatives of school aged children by financially  supporting the K-kids, builder’s and key clubs; collecting school supplies at the beginning of the school year and distributing them to needy families. The Local club joins with state clubs to support the Robert Wood Johnson Pediatric Unit. The Kiwanis Club also has a foundation which administers grants to non-profit organizations.

To be able to support the many projects that serve the community Kiwanis holds several fundraisers such as Trivia night on April 26; Touch A Truck, a family event on June 14; an annual golf outing on September 19 and an annual wine tasting in October.
