The impending storm is expected to deliver 6″-10″ of snow in the Parsippany area. Gov. Christie has declared a State of Emergency. All non-essential state government offices will be closed tomorrow. All Parsippany Public Schools are closed tomorrow.
As a reminder, parking vehicles on roadways is prohibited when the roads are snow covered (Parsippany Municipal Ordinance 405-10) to ensure that the salt and plow crews can do their job efficiently. Parked vehicles in violation of this ordinance may be subject to receiving a summons and towed away at the owners expense.
We will also be experiencing high winds during the storm (up to 40 MPH) followed by very cold temps for the next couple of days. Secure any loose items around your property that may take flight during very windy conditions. Have fuel on hand for your snow blower. Check on elderly and sick neighbors as well as those with small children. Take it easy cleaning off steps and shoveling and take a cell phone with you in your pocket in the event that you need to call for help. If you do experience chest pain or tightness while shoveling or on exertion, call for help right away. Please do not wait. With the frigid temps that we will be experiencing, please keep pets inside or limit their exposure to the single digit temps that we will be experiencing. As always, your Parsippany-Troy Hills Emergency Services will be standing by to assist you if needed. Only travel if it is necessary. Be careful out there.
