Rockaway residents charged with shoplifting


policebadgeOfficers Michael Sprung and Andrew Sadowski responded to a report of Shoplifting at Walgreens Pharmacy, Baldwin Road at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 3.

Upon their arrival, store management advised them that the suspects fled in a white taxi prior to the officers’ arrival.

While conducting an area check for the suspects, Headquarters alerted the officers that a taxi driver was reporting that his passengers fled his taxi without paying their fee.

The taxi driver responded to Walgreens where he informed Officer Sadowski that he dropped the suspects off at the Route 46 Shop Rite.

Officer Sadowski also advised Officer Sprung of the suspects’ descriptions.  Officer Sprung responded to the area of Shop Rite and observed a male and female exiting Shop Rite matching the suspects’ descriptions.

He approached the suspects who admitted to being dropped off by the taxi.  The suspects were then placed into custody and searched incident to their arrests.

Results of the searches found that Mr. Darryl Visco, 26, Rockaway, was in possession of drug paraphernalia and his counterpart, Ms. Sarah Fabrizio, 20, Rockaway, possessed a syringe needle  that was concealed in her bra.

Through their investigation, the officers discovered that the suspects shoplifted $142.92 of baby formula from Walgreens and the Route 46 Pathmark.

Both parties were transported to Police Headquarters and processed.  They were both charged with Theft of Services and Shoplifting.  Mr. Visco was additionally charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Ms. Fabrizio was charged with possession of Hypodermic Needle. They were released on their own recognizance, pending a court appearance.
