Officer Sprung arrests three for drug possession


policebadgeOfficer Michael Sprung, while on Patrol at 8:37 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, observed an older model Honda Civic make several motor vehicle violations in the area of upper Lake Shore Drive in Lake Hiawatha.

Officer Sprung followed the vehicle, which continued to travel at a high rate of speed prior to illegally parking outside of a residence on Ridgewood Avenue.

Upon approaching the residence, Officer Sprung observed three male occupants jump out of the vehicle and run into the screened front porch of the residence where a fourth male was located.

Officer Sprung was awaiting backup and continued to observe the males sitting around a table. One of the males was chopping a substance on the table with what appeared to be a credit card and then lean forward and snort the substance.

Officer Sprung also observed two of the males light a cigar wrapper after filling it with an unknown substance. He also smelled the odor of burning marijuana. Officer Alfred Keiser arrived on the scene to assist Officer Sprung and both officers announced their presence and observed a small clear bag of suspected cocaine and a small pile of suspected marijuana. The officers placed two males under arrest. They are identified as Mr. Tyler Hagenson, 20, Lake Hiawatha, Mr. Shawn Camacho, 19, also of Lake Hiawatha.  A 17 year old Lake Hiawatha male juvenile was also placed in custody and turned over to his mother upon her arrival at the residence.

The driver of the vehicle was issued several summonses for his violations and released at the scene. Mr. Hagenson and Mr. Camacho were charged with Possession of CDS or Analog and Possession of Marijuana.

Mr. Hagenson was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Use. They were released on their own recognizance following the charges.
