policebadgeOfficer Michelle Kardos was dispatched to investigate a motor vehicle crash on Sunday, July 14  that had just occurred on Tabor Road near the intersection of Route 10. When she arrived, she spoke to one of the drivers who stated that the other driver that had caused the crash got out of his vehicle and walked behind Tabor Tavern.

While canvassing the area for the driver, Sgt. Thomas Pomroy located a man fitting the description given by the driver at the scene of the crash. The man, later identified as Disney Vasquez-Amaya, 31, Morristown denied driving the vehicle that was abandoned at the scene, but documents bearing his name were found in the vehicle. He was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated after a brief investigation into the incident.

He was transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed before later being released pending an appearance in court. He was also charged with Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, Driving an Uninsured Vehicle, Driving While Suspended, Failure to Report a Vehicle Crash, Leaving the Scene of a Vehicle Crash and Reckless Driving. There were no injuries reported at the time of the incident.
