Monday, April 1 was the deadline for any candidates in the Republican or Democratic parties to submit their petitions to the Township Clerk, Yancy Wazirmas, if they are interested in running for office in the Tuesday, June 4 primary. All the candidates, except one, previously announced their candidacies, as early as January. The final candidate to file a petition is Michael Strumolo, running the Regular Republican Party, for the office of Township council. Michael Strumolo, a member of the Parsippany-Troy Board of Education term expires December 31, 2013.
Strumolo is owner of Hiawatha Sunoco, and was on the Parsippany council in 1999 and 2000.He is the township’s former Republican chairman and a former candidate for mayor.
The complete list of candidates are: For Mayor: James Barberio (R), Paul Carifi, Jr., (R) and Jonathan Nelson (D). For Township Council: Robert Peluso (R), Louis Valori (R), Vincent Ferrara (R), Milin Shah (R) Michael Strumolo (R), Bob (Robert) Keller (D) and Mihir Oza (D).
